The season of giving is upon us, and Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry has been collaborating to power positive change in our communities. Across Pennsylvania, MSC members and their employees have embraced this time of year to give back – organizing food drives, volunteering at local charities and supporting community initiatives. Our member companies know that being good neighbors means being present in the community and helping those who need it most. Read on for a snapshot of what we’ve been up to:

PR & Education Committee
Members of MSC’s PR & Education Committee rolled up their sleeves at local food banks in Pennsylvania. Volunteers dedicated their time and energy at both the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Central PA Food Bank in Williamsport – an organization that distributes more than 70 million pounds of food each year – helping prepare essential supplies for families facing food insecurity. MSC staff, as well as representatives from Repsol, Seneca Resources, Range Resources, SWCA Environmental Consultants, and National Fuel volunteered.

Members in Action

Range Resources
Range Resources continued its tradition of community support with its annual 2,000 Turkeys food drive this month. Now in its 41st year, this initiative provides Thanksgiving dinners for Washington County families in need. The 2025 campaign has already raised an impressive $120,000 thanks to generous donations from individuals, families, businesses, and organizations. With these contributions, 2,000 Turkeys is approaching its goal of providing holiday meals for more than 19,000 people in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Seneca Resources
Environmental stewardship paired with community service was highlighted in Seneca Resources’ recent employee initiatives. Seneca’s Production and Drilling teams volunteered to clean up a section of Old Freedom Road in Cranberry as part of the township’s Adopt A Roadway Program. They’re also matching donations to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown this season, which provides comfort and care to families with seriously ill or injured children.

NRG Energy
NRG Energy recently celebrated a milestone in its charitable giving. Through its Choose to Give program, NRG has contributed more than $5 million to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). These funds have supported over 30 projects and research initiatives led by experts in CHOP’s Cardiac Center, making a profound difference in pediatric healthcare.

EQT Corporation
EQT Corporation’s employees have been giving back in big ways this fall. More than 300 volunteers participated in Fall Qrew Volunteer Day, planting trees, packing food boxes, and cleaning trails across the company’s footprint. EQT also hosted local students for Disability Mentoring Day, connecting them with mentors, exploring career paths, and celebrating inclusion in the workplace. This year, EQT is dedicating over 30,000 volunteer hours, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and supporting the communities where employees live and work.
CNX Resources
1/3 Construction on the CNX Cryo Cave, the region’s first-of-its-kind engineered bat hibernaculum, is almost complete! Grateful for the collaboration with @USFWS, @PAGameComm, @UofCincy & @BatConIntl to protect our critical bat population. 🦇❄️ pic.twitter.com/uu4UVoyr1Y

Team CNX has almost completed construction of the CNX Cryo Cave, the region’s first ever bat hibernaculum, which protects and helps grow the region’s critical bat population. Greene County has a high concentration of endangered and threatened bat species with no known winter hibernacula in the area. The Cryo Cave’s location and temperature-controlled chambers will keep bats safe during hibernation.

Diversified Energy
Diversified Energy Company is making a meaningful impact on students and schools across its regional footprint. Through initiatives like its partnership with Operation Warm, DEC contributed $230,000 to provide winter coats, shoes, and snacks to children in need across 11 states. The company also gives back through its popular “Touchdowns for Turkeys” program with West Virginia University and the Mountaineer Food Bank, donating approximately $20,000 worth of turkeys for every WVU football touchdown to help feed local families.
Energy Transfer, Expand Energy, Williams Companies
Employees from Energy Transfer, Expand, and Williams’ Appalachia teams sponsored and participated in an annual Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program, collecting and distributing donations generously provided by local churches, small businesses, schools and individual donors. Nationwide, toy and monetary donations have reached record levels this year.
Hunters Sharing the Harvest
Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry has proudly supported Hunters Sharing the Harvest (HSH) for decades, reflecting a shared commitment to conservation, community, and the outdoors. In a state where hunting is a treasured tradition, this partnership helps turn donated venison into meals for families across Pennsylvania. One deer alone can feed up to 200 people. It’s a simple but powerful idea: local hunters giving back to their neighbors, with help from an industry that cares deeply about preserving the lands and traditions we all love.
In addition to the Marcellus Shale Coalition, proud sponsors of HSH include: Coterra Energy, Energy Transfer, EQT, Expand, Williams, Range Resources, Repsol, Seneca Resources, National Fuel, XTO Energy, and JKLM Energy.
These examples represent just a fraction of the community investment efforts undertaken by MSC members throughout the year and are in addition to the life-sustaining energy the sector proudly delivers each day. From food security initiatives to environmental cleanup projects to supporting healthcare, our industry continues to demonstrate that responsible energy development and community investment go hand in hand.
