Natural gas is a clean-burning fuel that offers a reliable and cost-effective alternative to other fuel sources for a host of end uses, including electricity generation and transportation fuel, both of which are helping to improve air quality regionally and nationally. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), air emissions were down 8 percent nationally and nearly 14 percent across the Mid-Atlantic. Furthermore, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) recently reported that CO2 emissions were at 20-year lows, thanks in part to increased use of natural gas.
