Harrisburg, PA – After today’s inauguration of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States, Marcellus Shale Coalition president Jim Welty issued the following statement:
“Today’s inauguration of President Trump presents a tremendous opportunity for the United States to advance crucial policies aimed at accelerating the production and use of our nation’s abundant energy resources.
“Throughout the election, voters made clear the importance of energy and support for domestic natural gas. Shale gas development has brought generational change to America – from access to affordable energy, to historic air quality improvements, to job creation and retention, to strengthened national security – and it is encouraging to have an Administration that both recognizes and welcomes these accomplishments.
“Pennsylvania’s abundant energy resources are critical to sustaining these goals. Pennsylvania’s operators have shown their commitment to protecting the environment while providing the life-sustaining energy resources we all need, and many take for granted, each day. Natural gas has shown itself to be a clean, versatile and reliable fuel source fundamental to our society.
“We are encouraged by President Trump’s early actions to nominate experienced, trusted professionals to advance his job-creating agenda as well as his immediate actions to reverse the LNG export ban, while prioritizing permitting reform.
