Shale Insight 2022 is “jam packed with headliners…ranging from Directors to CEOs to government officials,” Marcellus Shale Coalition president Dave Callahan said on WPXI’s Our Region’s Business. This week, MSC will host ~700 attendees at Erie’s Bayfront Convention Center for the 12th Annual Shale Insight conference.

Past Shale Insights have focused on energy policy, manufacturing growth, and the undeniable economic, environmental, and national security benefits of Appalachia natural gas, and this year we’re exploring the ways our industry is ever-evolving to meet the fundamental energy needs of the entire world.

As MSC members, attendees, reporters, and speakers prepare for two days of Shale Insight 2022, here’s 5 key things you won’t want to miss.

  1. Observations from Appalachia’s Energy Leaders

CEOs and executives operating in the world’s most prolific natural gas-producing basin are coming to Shale Insight to share their vision for the future of the industry and our region. Whether it’s unleashing American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to address global energy poverty or using the energy resources here to build and sustainably power Appalachia’s economy, attendees will get first-hand insights from the innovators and leaders influencing our energy future.

  1. Technical Breakout Sessions

As a highly technical industry, Shale Insight is convening experts from across the natural gas value chain to share best practices and lead panel discussions on a variety of applications pertaining to the sector. Tackling methane, sequestering carbon, and blending hydrogen – in addition to constructing and operating the infrastructure to carry it all – are a few of the many topics that will be covered in-depth throughout the conference. A special technology showcase will highlight the industry’s next-generation of tech developers to introduce new innovations to the natural gas sector and our many service providers.

  1. Exhibit Hall

The exhibit hall is fully subscribed with companies showcasing products and services that are propelling our ever-evolving industry into the future.  Experts in their respective fields will staff nearly 60 exhibits and be prepared to discuss business opportunities with you.

  1. Government Leaders

Whether it’s in Harrisburg, Washington, DC, or even Brussels, policies have a significant impact on energy markets and our ability to respond quickly when situations arise. Former Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Commissioner and Chairman Neil Chatterjee will discuss how the U.S. can better address the urgent infrastructure needs of our country in a fireside chat with the MSC and MPLX’s Greg Floerke, as well as the policy inaction hindering much-needed pipeline development in our region. Additionally, the European Commission’s Director-General for Energy

Ditte Juul Jørgensen will share perspectives on the ongoing energy crisis unfolding in Europe and how the U.S. industry is helping secure adequate supplies while also addressing climate concerns.

  1. Networking Opportunities

As in years’ past, networking opportunities are built into the schedule to allow attendees to get the most of their  free time at Shale Insight. These gatherings provide access to key industry leaders and innovators one-on-one, while helping forge new (or strengthening current) business relationships. Stop by any number of our networking breaks in the exhibit hall  to meet colleagues from across Appalachia’s natural gas industry and the organizations helping to spread awareness about our work.

*BONUS* Statewide Pennsylvania Candidates

With midterms only a few months away, MSC has invited candidates running for Governor and Pennsylvania’s open US Senate seat for attendees to hear their plans to strengthen Pennsylvania and the energy sector. Attorney General Josh Shapiro will address conferees virtually Thursday morning, with state Senator Doug Mastriano and Dr. Mehmet Oz speaking in-person Thursday afternoon.
