The 11th annual SHALE INSIGHT™ Conference kicks off next week in Erie, with carbon capture and storage, hydrogen, ESG financing, and federal policy among the many important topics industry leaders will be discussing.

Gathering this year at the Bayfront Convention Center, SHALE INSIGHT™ will also focus on how Pennsylvania-produced natural gas spurs job creation and economic growth across the state – regardless of where drilling activity occurs.

“We’re going to discuss the nexus of the energy world, the financial world and the environment,” MSC’s Callahan said in an interview with the Pittsburgh Business Times. “You’re going to hear a lot of discussion about the energy future for natural gas and how the industry itself is evolving, with or without government mandates.”

Here’s a look at some key sessions and panel discussions you won’t want to miss:

  • Sustainability, ESG: Breakout sessions will dive deep into many technical matters, including Environmental, Social and Governance best practices, particularly as it relates to the industry leading the way at enhancing environmental performance. Attendees will gain a first-hand understanding of continuous emissions monitoring and the rise of certified responsibly sourced gas and the outlook from top E&Ps on ESG action.
    • *BONUS* Wall Street’s Perspective: Marisa Buchanan, Managing Director of and Global Head of Sustainability at JPMorgan Chase will discuss the firm’s view on ESG reporting, disclosure and best practices, particularly as it relates to the energy sector.
  • Innovation: The industry has not stopped evolving since its beginning, we continue to grow and make incredible technical, environmental, and sustainability gains. These emerging technologies will be on display at various exhibits at the convention center and featured during our University Research and Tech Showcases in the Exhibit Hall. We’ll also hear from government researchers, industry executives, and small businesses who are exploring hydrogen, carbon capture and storage and other opportunities to further enhance environmental performance of energy production, transportation and use.
  • Federal Policy: With shifts in the policy environment creating regulatory uncertainty for businesses across the economy, Dr. Jennifer Wilcox, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. DOE’s Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management will offer remarks on the department’s evolving focus towards U.S. energy development and the expansion to “carbon management” solutions.
  • Manufacturing Opportunities: As the energy industry continues to look to engage local companies, we’ll have insight on the region’s manufacturing assets, highlighting capabilities from local companies who are successfully navigating the energy supply chain.
  • Networking Sessions: As always, this conference provides unprecedented networking opportunities with industry-leading CEOs, elected officials and thought leaders, all of whom play a critical role in crafting the public policy and technical landscape that defines shale gas development around the world.
