Philadelphia, Pa. – Today, SHALE GAS INSIGHT® 2012 officially kicked off at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The two-day, Marcellus Shale Coalition-sponsored event – attracting 150 exhibitors – will feature speeches and remarks from industry-leading executives, such as MarkWest Energy Partners Chairman and CEO Frank M. Semple, Range Resources Executive Chairman and Director John H. Pinkerton, and XTO Energy President Jack Williams.

Key government officials, including Gov. Tom Corbett, Mayor Michael Nutter and others, will also deliver remarks. Additionally, longtime newsman Ted Koppel will moderate a panel featuring top energy surrogates from the Obama and Romney presidential campaigns.

“As a former Philadelphian, it’s always a pleasure to be back in this great city. We are thrilled with the event’s positive turnout and look forward to important, solutions-oriented discussions about the bright and positive prospects on America’s horizon associated with the responsible development of natural gas,” said MSC president Kathryn Klaber.

The conference – which will provide a nearly $5.5 million economic impact for the city, according to the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau – will hear from storied American businessman Jack Welch, who’s set to deliver keynote remarks on Friday.

Added MSC chairman Dave Spigelmyer of Chesapeake Energy Corp.: “Our industry is proud of the work we’ve done to move this commonwealth forward, helping to create tens of thousands of good jobs for Pennsylvanians and providing a clean-burning American-made energy resource that’s strengthening our economy and our environment. We’re very pleased to be host this event in Philadelphia, whose consumers and manufacturing base continue to benefit greatly from safe Marcellus Shale development.”
