Pipelines: The Foundation of Sustainable Energy Diversification
Sponsored by TRC

Natural gas, delivered from a safe and reliable network of pipelines, has driven the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions for the power generation sector and filled the gap for on-demand, 24-7 power generation that wind and solar can struggle to meet. Pipelines – for natural gas, hydrogen, ammonia, and carbon dioxide – will remain the foundation for sustainable energy diversification. This panel will explore how pipeline operators can differentiate their projects by focusing on the merits of reduced carbon intensity, enhanced safety, decreased social and environmental burdens, co-created community benefits, and effective stakeholder engagement and communication.

Unlocking Utica Oil
Sponsored by Encino Energy

In 2018, Encino acquired 1 million acres of Utica Shale leasehold in Ohio, providing the company a rare combination: a massive resource base in a supportive regulatory environment, diversity of products and end markets. Since the acquisition, Encino’s rigorous approach to continuous improvement unlocked the potential of the Utica Oil Play, propelling Encino net oil production to more than 40,000 barrels per day – more than half of Ohio’s total. While Encino has already transformed its Utica assets to deliver well economics competitive with the best U.S. shale plays, significant untapped opportunity still exists.

MRV and Preparing for a Global Regulatory Environment
Sponsored by Montrose Environmental

The new EU Methane regulation is set to require energy exporters to disclose their product’s methane intensity beginning in 2025 and compliance with a to-be-determined methane intensity limit by 2030. The Marcellus/Utica Shale is the highest producing gas play in the U.S., and natural gas is beginning to make its way to LNG export facilities. The EU Methane regulation regulates emissions outside the EU border by requiring exporters to institute robust Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) programs to meet import contractual methane intensity disclosure and limit requirements…regardless of the U.S. regulations in place. Our panel will discuss how this regulation may impact operators and best practices in the field and in data management that can be implemented to prepare for this global regulatory environment.
