The U.S. Geological Survey recently released a study — Induced Seismicity Potential in Energy Technologies — conducted by the National Research Council, which acknowledges that seismic activity has increased in general over the last hundred years, but that there little evidence of a direct connection linking natural gas development from shale formations with earthquakes.
