The Marcellus Shale Coalition has partnered with a number of university researchers over the past few years to provide original fact-based research related to the economic impact of natural gas development on the region’s economy as well as research to address environmental matters. For example: the MSC partnered with researchers at Penn State University to assess the economic impact and needs of the natural gas industry; RAND Corporation to evaluate the feasibility of sourcing water needs through mine water; and is currently working with Indiana University of Pennsylvania to develop an electronic database of pre-drill water chemistry to name a few.
