As you may know, sand and water make up 99.5 percent of the liquids used in the well completions – or hydraulic fracturing – process, while the remaining 0.05 percent is comprised of additives which serve a specific purpose, such as reducing friction in the wellbore, preventing corrosion and eliminating bacteria.
These additives are needed to ensure completions are carried out effectively and that wellbore integrity is maintained. That said, oilfield services companies and others are constantly identifying new, creative ways to carry out these important stages of development.
