Why at the company meetings, events, etc. do the drilling companies say they would like to be transparent, but it is really hard to find accurate data on land leased, production rates, etc.

Much of the information that you cite is in fact publically available and/or required to be disclosed. We would encourage you to visit Pa. DEP’s Oil & Gas Reporting Website, which details production reports, well information and other important information.

Further, publicly-traded exploration and production companies are required by federal security law to provide exhaustive operational updates on a quarterly basis. Privately-held companies operating in the Marcellus also routinely make such information available, in addition to the disclosure and reporting requirements they must meet within Pennsylvania.
