Individual landowners make a decision on whether or not lease their land for energy development. More broadly speaking, 96 percent of all goods used and consumed each day are touched by chemistry, which natural gas serves as a foundational feedstock. Without natural gas, computers, clothing, consumers electronics and other everyday household goods would not be possible.
Natural gas also provides consumers with an affordable, clean and abundant energy source to generate electricity and heat homes, offices, schools and hospitals. Increased use of natural gas is largely responsible for improving air quality (according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, carbon dioxide emissions are at near 20-year lows, thanks to natural gas), has generated tens of thousands of new jobs here in Pennsylvania and has been the driving force in reducing utility bills for all consumers.
