There are a host of laws and regulations in place to ensure that natural gas development can occur while protecting our environment. Please click here to an overview of the regulatory agencies involved in safeguarding natural gas development, including transportation-related issues. Specific to transportation, natural gas operators are required to submit road management plans (Excess Maintenance Agreements) to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, among other requirements. Road management plans outline which roads an operator may travel while also stipulating a maintenance plan for each roadway. Additionally, the MSC has published a Recommended Practice for Motor Vehicle Safety; read more about that guidance document here.
