In response to the news that PennEast Pipeline has ceased further development, Marcellus Shale Coalition president Dave Callahan issued the following statement:

“It is an indisputable fact that pipelines are the safest way to transport low-cost, clean-burning, American natural gas to consumers. Today’s news is very disappointing, not just for consumers, but for the workers, many of whom are regional building tradesmen who will lose-out on family sustaining wages that the PennEast construction was guaranteed to provide. Make no mistake, the layers of unnecessary regulatory action, as well as the strategic litigation stranglehold designed to impede this important infrastructure project, will harm local, regional and national environmental progress, as well. While it may be a good day for extreme politicians and anti-energy activists, it’s a terrible day for consumers, our regional building trades, and our American energy security.”
