PITTSBURGH, Pa – Following Speaker Mike Turzai’s announcement this afternoon, Marcellus Shale Coalition president David Spigelmyer issued the following statement thanking the Speaker for his service and leadership to the Commonwealth.

He recognized early the generational opportunity shale gas development presented and championed our abundant natural gas resources for the benefit of all Pennsylvanians.
“Under his watch, Pennsylvania became a global energy production leader – and it has happened safely with a best-in-class regulatory framework and workforce dedicated to responsible operations. Through collaboration and partnership, shale development is generating billions of dollars in new tax revenues, delivering significant home energy savings, driving union building trades employment, and ushering in a manufacturing renaissance – all while achieving meaningful environmental progress. Speaker Turzai is a strong credit to this success.
