Pittsburgh, Pa. – In recognition and support of national Manufacturing Day, Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) president David Spigelmyer issued the following statement:

“America’s energy revolution – lead right here in the Commonwealth – is breathing new life into our manufacturing sector, which has been battered for far too long, especially during the Great Recession. While the region’s manufacturing obituary had been written by many, this critically important sector is being renewed, now and for decades to come, thanks to shale and Pennsylvania’s world-class workforce.

“With domestic natural gas, American manufacturers now have an important and long-term edge in an increasingly competitive global marketplace. With greater Philadelphia re-emerging as an energy hub, as well as other important projects across Appalachia planned and underway to leverage our abundant and affordable shale resources, our region’s manufacturers are well-positioned to fully capitalize on shale’s energy savings that will help create good-paying jobs and further strengthen the Commonwealth’s economy.

“In just a few years, shale has sparked a manufacturing renaissance that’s benefiting local communities and hard-working Pennsylvanians. With the right policies in place focused on encouraging continued natural gas development and expanded use – particularly in the manufacturing sector – all Pennsylvanians will continue to benefit greatly from this generational opportunity.”
