  • “It’s really meant to create additional dialogue and learning around issues around energy production here in Pennsylvania and throughout the Appalachian basin,” said Steve Forde.

The Marcellus Shale Coalition will be in Philadelphia this week for its third annual conference.

Shale Insight 2013 will bring together hundreds of industry leaders, CEO’s and elected officials who influence policy on one of Pennsylvania’s biggest economic booms.

“It’s really meant to create additional dialogue and learning around issues around energy production here in Pennsylvania and throughout the Appalachian basin,” said Steve Forde.

Forde is the Coalition’s Vice President of Policy and Communications.

He says the three day conference will include 20 panel discussions on what to do with the natural gas extracted from shale, environmental protections, economic development and more.

As in years past, protesters are likely.

Forde says the Coalition is working to raise awareness.

“The best way to deal with those who oppose the safe extraction of natural gas in Pennsylvania is to respond to their fear with facts. That’s what we’ve been doing for the past several years.”

Former house speaker Newt Gingrich is the keynote speaker for Shale Insight 2013.
