That’s really a false premise and is certainly not the case in Pennsylvania. We can, and must, balance the safe development of job-creating American natural gas with proper environmental safeguards and protections. And not only is it in our member companies’ business interests to protect our environment, but our industry support nearly 240,000 Pennsylvania jobs. We all want clear air and water and a healthy environment for future generations. To be sure, natural gas development is not an either-or proposition. As President Obama has said: “The natural gas boom has led to cleaner power and greater energy independence. We need to encourage that.” We certainly agree.
