Like you, a great deal of the men and women in Pennsylvania’s natural gas industry enjoy the outdoors. We also live in the communities where natural gas development is taking place.

As for road conditions, the natural gas industry is required by law to fix and repair roads if/when damaged. In fact, over the past few years, natural gas companies have invested more than $500 million into improving roads and are required by law to obtain a bond on any roadways our vehicles travel. As for what you call smog and pollution, natural gas is a clean burning fuel and improves air quality and reduces smog and emissions. There are also rules and regulations on the books that protect streams and aquatic life. Here in Pennsylvania we have the Clean Streams Law, mandatory setbacks from wetlands and streams and erosion and sediment control permits that are required prior to site preparation beginning. Taken together, these safeguards protect surface waters and help ensure that the habitat is not adversely impacted by natural gas development.
