Despite claims, Act 13 of 2012 actually bolstered industry transparency regarding treatment of patients, the opposite of what some have erroneously called a “gag order.”

The fact is, in the event of an emergency and for purposes of diagnosing a patient, medical professionals have unfettered access to all information related to additives, chemicals or any other constituent at a natural gas site—and for the that matter, any industrial site in the United States. That information, of course, must be used for patient care. The law itself explains that, and a fact check put together shortly after the legislation was signed breaks down the inaccuracies that have been reported elsewhere and offers details of this part of the law from credible sources.
