Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC) announced today the addition of new two staff members, further underscoring the organization’s focus on public education and technical affairs. Andrew Paterson, an engineer by trade, joins the MSC as vice president – technical and regulatory affairs. Over the past year, Mr. Paterson has – through a secondment agreement with MSC member company Talisman Energy USA – worked on the MSC’s staff, providing regulatory expertise. Additionally, Shari Williams joins the organization as a community outreach manager in southeastern Pennsylvania.

“Andrew and Shari bring decades of valuable knowledge and subject matter expertise to the coalition and our member companies. Their respective backgrounds will add to an already dynamic team of professionals on our team who are dedicated to ensuring the natural gas industry is well-represented and positioned across the region,” said MSC president Kathryn Klaber. “Andrew’s deep, firsthand technical understanding of many opportunities before our industry, especially from a policy and regulatory standpoint, has proven incredibly valuable.”

Added Klaber: “Shari’s nearly two decades of experience at the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, largely focused on community education and outreach initiatives across the commonwealth, will complement our growing and experienced team. We are excited to have such talented individuals join our organization at a critical time for the industry.”

Andrew Paterson is an oil and natural gas engineer with 25 years of experience. Mr. Paterson joins theMSC after serving as a seconded employee on a one-year assignment from Talisman Energy USA, during which he led the MSC’s development of content-rich Recommended Practices to raise the bar regarding how the industry operates across the Appalachian Basin. In his prior role with Talisman, Mr. Paterson was responsible for the development of the company’s Marcellus Shale operations in northeastern Pennsylvania and played a key role in the successful relocation of Talisman’s American headquarters in southwestern Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Talisman in 1997, Mr. Paterson was an engineer with Shell Canada. He is a graduate of the Technical University of Nova Scotia and Acadia University.

Shari Williams will lead the MSC’s education and outreach efforts in southeastern Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the MSC, Mrs. Williams served as a communications specialist with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. In the Office of Communications, Shari headed up consumer education events on energy and utility related issues in Eastern Pennsylvania and played a critical role for nearly two decades in the commission’s consumer outreach activities. Active with a host of community organizations, Mrs. Williams is Vice President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE). AABE’s mission is to ensure the input of African American and other minorities in the discussion and development of energy policies, regulations, R&D technologies, and environmental issues.
