Oil and natural gas development has a long and storied history in Pennsylvania and across the nation. In fact, the first oil well was drilled in 1859 in the small town of Titusville, Pa and since that time, more than 350,000 oil and natural gas wells have been drilled in the commonwealth. As for “cumulative health impacts,” the first place we’d recognize this trend is with our employees and those who have lived in the oil patch of northwest Pennsylvania for decades. To date, we are not aware of these trends emerging, however remain sensitive and interested in reviewing scientific research as it becomes available.
